Beam Is in Beta
I’m excited to share that
Beam is now available to try through TestFlight. I’ve been sharing bits of this side project in my
YouTube videos for a while, so reaching this point feels like a big milestone after months of work. It’s exciting to finally let people try it for themselves.

Beam began as a way to manage my own projects and tasks. I wanted one place where I could plan my day, keep track of ongoing projects, and hold onto the notes and details that go with them. I also wanted it to feel simple to use, while still being useful as my needs changed. That idea has grown into a product guided by a few values I keep coming back to:
- Your data stays yours. Beam doesn’t require a separate account. If you need to use Beam across devices, it syncs through iCloud.
- It works offline. Your plans should be there when you need them, even without a connection.
- Delight to use. I want Beam to feel considered in everyday use, with small choices that make it more enjoyable to plan, capture, and move through your work.
On the surface, Beam is meant to feel simple. Underneath, it’s more than a to-do list: you can write rich Markdown notes with keyboard shortcuts, and use a chat assistant powered by local AI models to work with your plans. There’s more to it, but I want those capabilities to sit behind an app that stays clear and easy to use.
I’d love for Beam to eventually support as many devices as possible. For now, I’ve chosen to build it natively for Apple devices. That gives me room to make the most of the hardware, create fluid animations, and integrate deeply with the devices people use every day. The beta is live, and I’m sharing a look at what I’ve been building. I’ll keep refining it around these values as it finds its way into more daily routines.
